I have been living in Ahmedabad for almost two decades now. And this is one place, which I have repeated the most. My latest visit to this place was last Sunday, 1st September, 2024. This place is trendy and one has to wait for 20-45 minutes on weekends. But if you reach there around 7 PM, waiting is almost nil. This I have learnt over the years and following this learning, we reached there 10 minutes past 7. Being the weekend, there was a rush and we could not find any parking designated for the restaurant. We had to park our car in the AMC parking on Happy Street. It took us almost 20 more minutes and by the time, we came back, there was a waiting of 20-25 minutes if you want to sit inside the AC restaurant. They have set 3-4 tables outside, in the open. We had to make a choice and we opted for the outside sitting, instead of waiting for another 20-25 minutes. I was feeling hungry also and weather was pleasant and the view was good.

Masala Dosa

Since ours is a silent home, which is very common for people with empty nests, when I go out, I prefer to have some noise and commotion around.

We ordered - paneer lifafa ( desi name for paneer wrap) and masala dosa with two sugar cane juice. And we shared. :) The service here is very fast. Within 10 minutes, food was on our table.

We had our full and then crisscrossed the traffic to reach our car and came back by 9 PM, spending around 50 minutes on the road.

More on Swati Snacks Restaurant

One of the standout dishes is the Sabudana Khichdi, a   Maharashtrian savoury that’s simply delicious and generously portioned. The Panki Chutney and Falafel are also highly recommended, offering a burst of flavour in every bite. The food here is perfectly cooked, not overly spicy, and is ideal for health-conscious diners, with minimal oil used in preparations like the Crispy Veg.

The restaurant's ambience is simplistic, with decorative lights creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The setup is simple yet chic, making it a great spot for a quiet, romantic dinner. While the prices may seem slightly higher than expected, they are inclusive of taxes, making the overall experience well worth it.

The service at Swati Snacks is efficient and friendly, with staff who go out of their way to ensure a pleasant dining experience.

For those looking for a more comprehensive meal, the Thali option offers an excellent selection of Gujarati street food, including Dhokla, Chaat, Roti, Thepla, and more, all accompanied by delicious sides and desserts. While the Thali’s rice dishes can be a bit underwhelming, the overall quality of the food is excellent, making it a great value for money.

In summary, Swati Snacks is a top dining spot in Ahmedabad, especially for those looking to savour the flavours of Gujarat. The combination of quality food, inviting ambience, and attentive service makes it a must-try restaurant. Just remember to account for some waiting time if you’re visiting during peak hours. Happy dining!
